Logistic-oriented order sequencing strategies for multistage productions

Subject Area Production Systems, Operations Management, Quality Management and Factory Planning
Term from 2018 to 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 409759709

The proposed transfer project is based on the results on the conducted project "Integrated model-based description of cause-effect relationships in intra-company supply chains". Within the mentioned research project different mathematical models were developed in order to describe quantitative effects of different sequencing rules on the lateness of orders as well as the productivity of workstations. The developed models describe the first-in-first-out sequencing rule, schedule-oriented sequencing rules as well as setup-optimized rules. In the scope of the research project the developed models will be adapted to the restrictions of the production system of the cooperation partner KBA-Industrial Solutions AG & Co. KG. Furthermore, the existing models will be extended to allow their application in the present production setting of KBA-Industrial Solutions AG & Co. KG. Based on the quantification of the effects of different sequencing rules at single workstations a holistic order sequencing strategy will be developed for a specific production area. Different combination possibilities of the sequencing rules in combination with possible measures to compensate for negative logistical effects will be examined. In order to ensure a sustainable knowledge transfer and a lasting use of the achieved research results a user-friendly software prototype for the automated analysis of feedback data as well as a procedure model for the derivation of order sequencing strategies will be developed.
