Project Details
Assessment of auditory function and abilities in life-like listening scenarios (C05)
Subject Area
Acoustics
Term
since 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 352015383
Complex acoustic scenes created in virtual reality can be used to address important questions on auditory perception beyond the scope of the simplified stimuli and conditions of classical psychoacoustic laboratory tests. Based on the ecologically relevant environments developed in the first funding period, we will ad-vance auralization techniques and perceptually verify their system components against ground truth meas-urements in real environments with the goal to enable reproducible science in virtual acoustic environ-ments. We will advance our psychophysical test methods towards novel interactive approaches in audio-visual scenes that include avatars and automated, continuous performance analysis with observational techniques.
