Surface Reactivity of Model Oxide Catalysts (A04)

Subject Area Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Physical Chemistry of Solids and Surfaces, Material Characterisation
Term since 2018
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 388390466

Project Description

Project A04 uses surface-sensitive time-resolved operando methods (GI-XAS and -XRD, surface-enhanced Raman) to analyze in situ grown epitaxial Co-based spinel and perovskite thin films as well as nanoparticles during alcohol oxidation and OER. These studies, supported by in situ surface science pre- and post-catalysis characterization, will tackle the role of surface orientation of the thin films and of the composition as well as the influence of defect motifs on the catalytic activity and active state properties. Thereby, important insights into the working catalysts operation mode and an improved understand of the solid-liquid interface during oxidation catalysis will be gained.
