Thermal Catalysis: Activity and Selectivity Patterns of the Transition Metal Oxides in Different Oxidation Reactions (A01)
Subject Area

Technical Chemistry
Technical Chemistry
Term
since 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 388390466
The focus of the second funding period will be the identification of active sites and reaction mechanisms. Cobalt-based spinels and perovskites synthesized in area C will be routinely screened for their catalytic properties in different liquid-phase oxidation reactions. The kinetic studies conducted in conventional batch reactors will be complemented by steady-state experiments in a continuous-flow microreactor. Additionally, reusability and leaching will be investigated by recovering the catalysts for post-catalytic characterization and recycling tests. The kinetic studies will be supported by spectroscopy (ATR-IR, EPR (B06)) and also include the decomposition of hydroperoxides. Furthermore, the role of the solvent in the catalytic cycle will be assessed.
