Stars are born out of dense interstellar molecular clouds. If a supernova explosion occurs near the newly forming star, the supernova remnant will change the physical properties of the molecular cloud, the envelope, and the accretion disk around the protostar. In addition, the matter out of which the star and its planets form will be enriched with chemical elements that were produced inside the progenitor of the supernova and in the supernova explosion itself. Measurements in our Solar system show that it must have also been enriched by a nearby supernova. We will carry out near-infrared photometry of supernova remnant which are believed to be interacting with molecular clouds using the 2.2m telescope of the Calar Alto Observatory (CAHA). Based on the new data we wil identify young stellar objects inside or in the very vicinity of supernova remnants. These young stellar objects will be studied in more detail in dedicated future observations with higher resolution.
