Project Description

In this project, we plan to study the controlled creation and dynamics of topological magnetic textures. It is a combination of a natural continuation of our project in the first funding period mixed it in with novel ideas and twists emerging in the last years. In particular, we plan to i) further analyze the peculiar physics of in-plane skyrmions as well as ii) the multifaceted opportunities to create different types of magnetic structures in three dimensions. Moreover, we would like to iii) study the creation of magnetic textures in helical backgrounds and iv) analyze the strain-induced creation and stability of antiferromagnetic textures.Such controlled creation mechanisms to produce magnetic structures with desired topological properties are an essential basis for spintronics applications.
