SPP 2206:  Cooperative Multilevel Multistable Micro Actuator Systems (KOMMMA)

Subject Area Computer Science, Systems and Electrical Engineering
Materials Science and Engineering
Term since 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 402743889

This project comprises coordination and management of the scientific collaboration within the priority programme SPP 2206 ‘Cooperative Multistage Multistable Micro Actuator Systems (KOMMMA)’. The priority programme intends to advance the important development step from single actuators to KOMMMA. The coherent cooperation of different microactuators will enable innovative ‘smart’ system solutions and new functionalities, thus building a bridge towards the success of today’s sensor technology. The objective of this interdisciplinary Priority Programme is to demonstrate new theoretically based concepts for understanding the complex coupling and synergy effects in cooperative microactuator systems on different length and time scales. Based on a fundamental understanding of these effects, novel development methods have to be demonstrated for the design of new system architectures as well as for their fabrication and control by focusing on bi- and multistable mechanisms. In the second funding period, the Priority Programme will concentrate on the core issues of ‘design and evaluation of multifunctional microactuator system architectures’ and ‘methods for their fabrication and control’ taking coupling and synergy effects into account.
