Project Description

In this project we analyse the development of national social policies in Latin America against the back-ground of ever-increasing transatlantic economic interdependencies. Our main research question is: Have the economic relationships between Latin America and Western Europe led to complementary welfare states and political economies, and which actor coalitions have shaped this development? We focus historically on parties and for more recent periods on the electorates to examine how econo¬mic cross-national interde-pendencies have been translated via political processes into different national social policy profiles.
