Project Details
Predicting evolutionary pathways to β-lactam resistance (A02)
Subject Area
Evolutionary Cell and Developmental Biology (Zoology)
Term
since 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 325931972
focuses on the evolution of resistance against β-lactams, an important class of antibiotics. We will map cost and benefit of resistance and predict adaptive trajectories of resistance evolution as a function of drug concentration and population size. These predictions will be tested in massively parallel evolution experiments. The overarching goal of the project is an integrated understanding of genetic and environmental constraints contributing to the evolution of resistance to a specific class of commonly used drugs.
