Elucidating the native function and signalling components of the cell death executioners Bs3 and Bs4C (D08)

Subject Area Organismic Interactions, Chemical Ecology and Microbiomes of Plant Systems
Plant Biochemistry and Biophysics
Term since 2018
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 232631280

Project Description

Preliminary work in the project resulted in identification of genes that are required for cell death executed by the pepper resistance genes Bs3 and/or Bs4C. We will characterize the identified signaling components at the molecular level and establish testable working models that explain how Bs3/Bs4C expression translates into cell death. Moreover we will study the proposed native function of Bs3/Bs4C as transcriptionally-controlled regulators of developmental programmed cell death.
