Project Details
Spin-dependent transport in inhomogeneous systems (B04)
Subject Area
Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics
Term
since 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 328545488
This theory project investigates fundamental and material-specific processes of ultrafast spin transport in inhomogeneous systems. Placed between sophisticated and phenomenological theories, our approach is based on the temporal propagation of the density matrix, covers all relevant timescales – from excitation to relaxation –, and includes all essential features (e.g., details of sample and laser pulse, heat bath). By investigating observables computed on the microscopic level (e.g., spin and orbital currents), we shall identify new transport channels and material combinations suited for device applications.
