Project Details
Harnessing hepatic tolerance mechanisms for antigen-specific treatment of autoimmune and allergic diseases (T01)
Subject Area
Gastroenterology

We have developed a nanoparticle-based method for selective delivery of antigen peptides to tolerance-inducing liver cells. In a mouse model of multiple sclerosis, this method provided exceptional therapeutic efficacy. Here we aim at the translation of this approach into a widely applicable antigen-specific therapeutic platform for important autoimmune and allergic diseases. As an essential step towards clinical application, we seek to obtain proof-of-concept in relevant preclinical models for type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, cholangitis, or food allergy.
