Locomotion-dependent neural processing within the thalamo-cortico-thalamic circuits (B19*)
Subject Area

Physical activity, such as locomotion, can profoundly shape neural processing throughout the early visual system. Here, we ask how such activity-dependent modulation depends on glutamatergic signaling within thalamo-cortico-thalamic circuits. We will test this question using electrophysiology and optogenetics in awake, headfixed mice, disentangling the impact of feedforward and feedback circuits. Additionally, we will test the role of HCN channels, a key cellular determinant of thalamic activity, in controlling the firing mode during transitions in behavioral state.
