Dynamic regulation of synaptic calcium channels by neurexins (A03)

Subject Area Cell Biology
Term since 2018
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 386797833

Project Description

We investigate neurotransmission by studying how voltage-gated calcium channels are regulated by various neurexin (Nrxn) variants. Using mostly live cell imaging techniques and genetically modified mice, we predominantly monitor the effect of Nrxn variants on Ca2+ influx and release of synaptic vesicles as well as of dense-core vesicle from cultured hippocampal neurons, in order to better understand the mechanisms of this important process.
