The main idea of this project is the development of a patient-specific computational lung model taking into consideration local (patho-) physiological phenomena. Validation with clinical electrical impedance tomography (EIT) measurements will be one key focus and upon completion allow application of the model for predicting patient specific ventilatory response. In this work, the model will be applied to different mechanical ventilation protocols and clinical manoeuvres in a retrospective study and pave the way for future use in personalising ventilatory treatment for each patient specifically.
