Internal dynamics of chiral molecules in the light of IR- and THz-radiation (B03)
Subject Area

Term
since 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 328961117
The physical properties and the tunneling dynamics of chiral molecules in the gas-phase will be studied by means of high-resolution infrared and terahertz spectroscopy. Purely light-driven methods to measure the chiral excess of mixtures and enantiomer-selective excitation schemes of ro-vibrational states will be devel-oped. These techniques will open new prospects to chiral purification of racemic gas-mixtures. Furthermore, with the frequency comb-assisted precision spectrometers we aim for resolving the small energy differ-ences between enantiomers to prove the predicted effect of molecular parity violation for the first time.
