Dependence of photoelectron circular dichroism on distance between probe-electron emission site and chiral center (A04)
Subject Area

We will experimentally investigate how the photoelectron circular dichroism (PECD) depends on the distance between the site of emission and the molecular chiral center using two complementary approaches. In a static approach, we will use a class of molecules in which the distance is varied by extension of the molecu-lar structure by carbon chains. In a dynamic approach, we will photo-dissociate the molecule and probe PECD of the fragments as a function of the time passed after initiation of the fragmentation. The latter in-cludes the usage and development of cutting-edge technologies like high-repetition X-ray free electron la-sers providing circularly polarized radiation.
