This project will enable the Mainz City Library to complete the cataloguing of its manuscript collection (with exception of volumes from the 19th to the 21th century). Of the more than 800 medieval and 500 modern manuscripts, around 760 will be examined until end of 2019. By then the descriptions will be made accessible in four printed volumes and/or on Manuscripta Mediaevalia. The next will be the final phase and will encompass the 258 remaining manuscripts of the City Library from the 8th to the 18th century. The results will be published mainly on Manuscripta Mediaevalia, on an ongoing basis. The project will receive specialist support from the Handschriftenzentrum of the Württembergische Landesbibliothek Stuttgart, the Mainz City Archives (Stadtarchiv Mainz) and the Department of Catholic Theology at the Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz (Katholisch-Theologische Fakultät der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz).
