The objective of the research project is the development of an industrially applicable tool life model for continuous as well as discontinuous processes for manufacturing plunged, spiral bevel gears. In order to meet the main objective, the following partial objectives have to be met:1. Transfer of the theoretical tool life model for face milling to industrial application2. Extension of the existing method carrier to face hobbing3. Development of an empirical tool life model for face hobbing under series and laboratory conditions4. Transfer of the empirical tool life model for face hobbing to industrial application5. Ensuring the ability of the results to be industrially applied through a guideline for process design of soft cutting plunged bevel gears
