Project Details
Locative Media II: New Spatial Realities between Conflict and Coexistence (B04)
Subject Area
Empirical Social Research
Term
since 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 290045248
Building upon insights gained during the first funding period into new forms of cyber-physical spatial perception and spatial appropriation produced through locative media, the second phase will focus on the finding that the normalization of locative media entails a polycontexturalization of space-related constructions of reality. Using the examples of recommendation systems as well as mobile gaming and dating applications, new cyber-physical spatial realities will be analyzed from the point of view of both conflict and coexistence. B04 will provide insights into the effects of different uses of locative media on the refiguration of urban spaces.
