Architectures of Asylum: Circulation of Governance Approaches, Planning Knowledge, Design Practices, and Materialities (C08 (A04))
Subject Area
Architecture, Building and Construction History, Construction Research, Sustainable Building Technology
Term
since 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 290045248
For the second funding period, the subproject moves from Pillar A to Pillar C due to shifting its focus away from subjective spatial knowledge towards circulation processes. Based on the results of the first phase, C08 will conduct case studies in Berlin, the metropolitan area of Amman (Jordan), and Abuja (Nigeria) in order to investigate how the local planning of infrastructures for refugees and internally displaced persons is increasingly shaped and transformed by translocal conflicts and the clash of different spatial figures (place, network space, territorial space, trajectorial space) in their political, legal and technical aspects.
