The Spatial Knowledge of Young Adults: The Constitution of Online, Offline and Hybrid Spaces (A02)
Subject Area
City Planning, Spatial Planning, Transportation and Infrastructure Planning, Landscape Planning
Term
since 2018
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 290045248
Building on the results of the first funding period, the subproject aims to develop a typology of young adults’ spatial constitutions and to capture the interconnectedness of different spatial figures within a conceptual framework. Influencing factors shaping the spatial knowledge of young adults will be the focus of our research, most importantly the impact of digital mediatization and the hybridization of spatial arrangements. Empirical comparisons between Berlin (Germany) and Lima (Peru) will be used to identify relational entanglements and different bases of spatial knowledge. The results will contribute to a theoretical conceptualizing of the refiguration of young people's spaces.
