Geographic Imaginations II: Ontological (In)Securities in Rural Areas (A01)

Subject Area Human Geography
Term since 2018
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 290045248

Project Description

The subproject investigates the significance of geographic imaginations for the experience and constitution of ontological (in)securities in rural spaces focusing on changes in imagined forms of subjective spatial knowledge between the poles of prospering rural areas (examples are Powell River, BC, Canada and Bad Urach, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany) and peripheral rural areas (examples are Burns Lake, BC, Canada and Seeland in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany). The project contributes to establishing a global comparative perspective in the exploration of refiguration processes in rural spaces.
