This project will assess the relationship between the Corpus Hermeticum and appropriate representatives of the Theologic Philosophy (Philo of Alexandria, the Chaldean Oracles) and the Philosophic Theology (Plutarch of Chaeroneia, Numenius of Apamea, Plotinus, Porphyry of Tyre, Iamblichus of Chalcis) of the Roman Empire. My conclusions will form the foundation of the first comprehensive study on the Corpus Hermeticum in the tension between Philosophy and Religion of the Empire.
