The assembly of the postsynaptic transmitter sensing machinery at inhibitory nerve cell synapses requires the intimate interplay between cell adhesion proteins, scaffold and adaptor proteins, and γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) or glycine receptors. In the last funding period, we successfully developed an in vitro membrane system allowing us to analyze part of the protein machinery. We will continue this goal here, working mainly with the proteins neuroligin-2, CB2 and gephyrin.
