Project Details
Preparation of Carbon Nanostructures from Organometallic Compounds
Applicant
Professor Dr. René Wilhelm
Subject Area
Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
from 2007 to 2010
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 38541026
The pyrolysis of organometallic compounds will be explored. Different metal complexes can lead to various nanostructures of carbon, like carbon nanotubes, fibers and other forms. The pyrolysis parameters and also the influence of starting material on resulting carbon material will be investigated. The pyrolytic, solid state synthesis to nanomaterial from organometallic molecules of defined composition and morphology provides a unique alternative entry into the field of nanomaterials, which allows control of elemental ratios and tailoring.
