Subject Area

Term

Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 315477589
Strong interaction matter in the early Universe will investigate strong-interaction matter in the early Universe and its interplay with various Dark-Matter candidates. We will study the cosmic trajectory in the QCD phase diagram, including the possibilities of large lepton-flavor asymmetries and of pion condensation. We will investigate the impact of the cosmic QCD transition on Dark Matter, including the clustering of axions due to temperature fluctuations, the production of sterile neutrinos, and enhanced production of primordial black holes due to a softened equation of state. And we will investigate a delayed electroweak transition which overlaps the QCD transition. Primordial gravitational waves and a modification of their spectrum will be used throughout as a diagnostic tool.
