The electroweak response of hot and dense QCD matter will focus on the electroweak response of strong-interaction matter at high net-baryon density and moderate temperature, which are relevant for heavy-ion collisions of several GeV/nucleon and for neutron-star mergers (NSMs). Within the functional renormalization group approach, we will develop effective hadronic theories for the chiral dynamics of finite-density QCD to describe nuclear and neutron matter. The results will be confronted quantitatively with heavy-ion measurements involving photons and dileptons by means of coarse-grained transport and hydrodynamical simulations. We will provide both equation-of-state information and neutrino emissivities to Project B09 for use in studying NSMs.
