Project Details
The QCD equation of state at high temperature and density (A04)
Subject Area
Nuclear and Elementary Particle Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Relativity, Fields
Term
from 2017 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 315477589
The goal of this project is to provide a high-order Taylor expansion of the grand partition function of QCD. In this project we will further advance the numerical tools that allow for the calculation of up to eighth-order Taylor-expansion coefficients with sufficient accuracy to provide bounds on the location of a possible critical endpoint in the QCD phase diagram. The research program includes the calculation of the Taylor-expansion coefficients and the analysis of phenomenological consequences concerning their relevance for the hydrodynamic modeling of matter created in heavy-ion collisions.
