Project Details
Five-Axis Milling and Simulation System for the Manufacturing of Free-Formed Dies (B02)
Subject Area
Materials Engineering
Term
from 2007 to 2015
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 16071898
For an economic production of the forming tools of the CRC process chain, highly productive five-axis milling processes are applied and the subsequent addition of form elements into the coated workpiece is investigated. These processes are planned and optimized by the application and extension of the developed multi-scale simulation system. To accomplish this, the dynamic process properties are analyzed in detail taking the tool wear and an arbitrary placement of the cutting edges into account. Furthermore, the influence of the dynamic behavior on the process result is supplied to the global process-chain optimization.
