Molecular electron microscopy (Z01)

Subject Area Structural Biology
Term from 2007 to 2018
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 25065445

Project Description

Project Z01 aims to support the structural analysis of functional modules within the consortium using cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM). We first apply routine screening techniques to assess the sample quality followed by automated data collection of negatively stained samples or samples embedded in vitrified ice. In the next step we support the determination of intitial structure models followed by an in-depth cryo-EM analysis, which will be done in close collaboration with the individual partners. Furthermore, our project also aims to develop and implement new methodologies focusing on the in silico analysis of sample heterogeneity. Additionally, we now also offer automated data acquisition for cell biological applications and cellular electron tomography.
