Spectral analyses of CARMENES host stars

Applicant Dr. Andreas Schweitzer
Subject Area Astrophysics and Astronomy
Term from 2017 to 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 314665159

Project Description

We will analyze the spectra of the CARMENES target stars with individual PHOENIX/1D model atmospheres and synthetic spectra. The analyses will deliver the effective temperature, gravity and individual element abundances as well as error limits and the derived stellar parameters like mass and radius for the targets. The results will be used by other projects in the FOR, e.g., to estimate planet masses. The project will also result in an optimized setup for input micro-physics parameters (e.g., line broadening corrections) for M dwarfs which will be important for further analyses of field M dwarfs.
