Project Description

The CARMENES Photometry Project (CPP) is a follow-up observational campaign to the CARMENES radial velocity survey on Calar Alto, using our own telescopes in Spain, Texas, and South Africa. On the one hand, we propose to carry out a dense and quasi-simultaneous photometry of radial velocity variables from the CARMENES survey in order to assess the stellar activity; this information is crucial to help separating radial velocity signals from planets and false positives from activity signals. On the other hand, we will search for transits during the transit windows predicted from the CARMENES radial velocity measurements. This will either exclude a transit or lead to a transit detection, which would then open up the path towards a much more detailed analysis, i.e. the determination of the planetary density and its atmosphere.
