Project Details
Controls for the Fate of Agrochemicals in Soils (P06)
Subject Area
Soil Sciences
Term
from 2017 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 281741268
Agricultural soils are subject to high inputs of pesticides that may be transformed, stored or transferred to neighboring compartments such as groundwater. Despite the undisputed importance of soils for the quality of ground- and surface water, we are still lacking the mechanistic understanding of the interacting biogeochemical processes that control the persistence of pesticides in soil. Project P6 will tackle the challenge to link chemical, physical, and biological controls for a full understanding of pesticide turnover in soils. This will provide insights into critical controls on pesticide bioavailability, mobility and biodegradation that may vary on the catchment-scale.
