Project Details
Identification and characterization of major stem cell identity regulators within the epidermis (A13*)
Subject Area
General Genetics and Functional Genome Biology
Term
from 2017 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 73111208
The epidermis contains a great variety of functionally and spatially distinct stem cell populations that play important roles during skin homeostasis, wound healing, ageing and disease. Despite their functional and medical relevance, most epidermis stem cell populations remain poorly characterized at a molecular level. Using a recently established epigenomic approach that facilitates the molecular dissection of cellular heterogeneity, we aim at uncovering and functionally characterizing the major regulators of the distinct stem cell compartments residing within the Epidermis.
