In M05 THz based methods for object imaging and object material characterization, as well as for passive thermal imaging will be investigated. The research is driven by the vision of providing solutions for very topical questions in the field of fire detection and fire safety. Thus, the investigations focus on the detection and imaging of buried or hidden "hot spots" and on the characterization of pyrolyzed wooden beams after a fire, especially concerning their internal structure.
