Project Details
Functional Electromagnetic Signatures from Complex Surface Systems and Indoor Scenarios (M03)
Subject Area
Electronic Semiconductors, Components and Circuits, Integrated Systems, Sensor Technology, Theoretical Electrical Engineering
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 287022738
The overall objective of project M03 is (i) to provide a comprehensive theoretical framework for the analysis of ultra-broadband electromagnetic (EM) signatures from complex, (sub-) surface systems in realistic in-room scenarios, and (ii) to further extend this analysis towards the functionalization of surface systems with respect to tailored EM responses in the mm-wave/THz range. The analysis relies on hierarchically organized multiscale computational EM models, which are validated along reconfigurable test samples using 3D printing of polymer and/or ceramic (metamaterial) surfaces in conjunction with ionic liquid and/or liquid metal microfluidics.
