M02 addresses the accurate and efficient modelling and simulation of wideband THz systems under realistic environmental conditions. For this purpose, application-aimed simulations will be investigated to extend the simulation framework from the 1st and 2nd phase with observed effects from true measurement data. The presence of complex media such as flames in a fire scenario, combining temperature gradients, movements, and material mixtures will be studied. For the generation of a large data base, numerous variations of flames and combustion materials and their time variant behavior will have to be analyzed. Based on highly precise and fast radar phase measurements, a classification of flames will be conducted. The obtained results will increase the overall performance of mobile material characterization and localization and help to derive propagation models, material characteristics, and compensation techniques in the THz frequency range in dynamic environments.
