M02 addresses the accurate and efficient modelling and simulation of multiscale and multiphysical effects at THz frequencies. Therefore, a domain decomposition method based on complex source beam expansion of the corresponding fields will be investigated, leading to quasi-analytic channel models. Hence, each subdomain can be simulated with the appropriate method. To further increase the self-consistency of the simulated data with real observations, various environmental effects, e.g. temperature or movements, will be taken into account and their individual impact will be analysed. Intensive studies will be performed with full-wave simulations in comparison with measurements in order to extract suitable models. To further extend the ability of the simulations, additional complex materials, e.g. flames, must be considered in order to cover all environmental aspects on THz signals. With these models included in the small- and large-scale simulations, a powerful and indispensable simulation framework will be investigated.
