In previous work we have defined bZIP53 as a crucial transcriptional regulator in seed maturation. Both bZIP1 and bZIP53 control metabolic reprogramming in leaves under energy deprivation induced by an extended night treatment or in roots in response to salt stress. This project aims at further characterising the impact of these bZIPs and their corresponding heterodimerisation partners on stress-regulated target genes, studying the Arabidopsis transcriptome and metabolome. Finally, the impact of SNF1 Related Protein Kinases (SnRKs) on bZIP mediated transcription will be analysed.
