Project Details
Position resolved damage nucleation and growth at the microstructure length scale (B03)
Subject Area
Mechanical Properties of Metallic Materials and their Microstructural Origins
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 278868966
The project focuses on the damage growth at the mcirostructure level, which is primarily influenced by the work hardening capability of the ferrite. A model for isotropic as well as one for latent work hardening will be measured, based on micro pillar compression. The experiments are conducted on ferrite grains of a model material which exhibits the same chemical composition as the ferrite in DP800. Finally, the electrical conductivity and fracture toughness of microstructure constituents (phases, phase- and grain boundaries) will be measured.
