Project Details
Mechanisms and statistics of deformation induced damage as a function of load path and microstructure (B02)
Subject Area
Mechanical Properties of Metallic Materials and their Microstructural Origins
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 278868966
In the second funding period a 3D analysis of the microstructural damage in DP800 will be conducted to determine the mechanisms operating in the bulk (AP1). In addition, the evolution of damage and the interaction of damage mechanisms will be investigated with respect to variations in the microstructure and load path (AP2-3). Moreover, the developed method of automated damage analysis in DP800 will be extended to 16MnCrS5 (AP4). The respective micromechanical characterization at room temperature will also be extended to elevated temperatures (AP5). Furthermore, the work program includes an experimental validation of damage-tolerant microstructures designed in cooperation withproject partners.
