Project Details
Modeling and control of damage evolution in caliber hot rolling of steel rods (A01)
Subject Area
Primary Shaping and Reshaping Technology, Additive Manufacturing
Term
from 2017 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 278868966
The aim of the subproject is to provide methods for a verified evaluation of damage development occurring during caliber rolling with different processing strategies in order to allow for a process sequence layout with minimum resulting damage. Therefore, the variation range of the load regime in caliber rolling as well as its influence on damage evolution is determined using common damage models that are evaluated and extended as required. In order to consider damage evolution over a relevant bulk forming process chain, semi-finished products made from 16MnCrS5 with different degrees of damage are produced to be further processed via extrusion.
