Project Details
Development of inhibitors of vascular adhesion protein-1 (VAP-1) as novel antiphlogistic agents
Applicant
Professor Dr. Matthias Lehr
Subject Area
Pharmacy
Term
from 2017 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 329739129
The objective of the project is the development of new potent inhibitors of vascular adhesion protein-1 (VAP-1). This enzyme plays an important role in the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases by participating in the extravasation of immune active cells from the blood into the inflamed tissue. A special focus shall be set on the selectivity and on the drug like properties of the molecules, in particular on metabolic stability and water solubility. The new agents could serve as biochemical tools to explore inflammatory processes, and, in an ideal case, they could be innovative, therapeutically useful antiphlogistics.
