Homeostatic maintenance of neuronal function in a dynamic network. (C05)

Subject Area Experimental and Theoretical Network Neuroscience
Molecular Biology and Physiology of Neurons and Glial Cells
Term from 2017 to 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 221828878

Project Description

We investigate the homeostatic mechanisms maintaining functionality at the level of neuronal ensembles in light of the volatility at the connectivity level. We will study the impact of cortical heterogeneity (i.e. a few cells on the whole network) on short- and long-term network activity and auditory processing in mice, and establish a behavioral readout in humans via long-term idiosyncratic choice bias (ICB) dynamics and susceptibility to feedback; additionally, we will also establish a similar ICB assay in mice to translate mechanistic studies to humans.
