Gammy-ray bursts: from models to the observation of neutrinos ((14) M02)

Subject Area Nuclear and Elementary Particle Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Relativity, Fields
Astrophysics and Astronomy
Term from 2017 to 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 283604770

Project Description

The first CRC funding period was characterized by two spectacular multi-messenger events: the first association of astrophysical IceCube neutrinos with a blazar and the observation of the merger of two neutron stars in gravitational waves (VIRGO/LIGO) and gamma ray photons (Fermi and INTEGRAL). In M02 we aim at correlating the new Fermi GRB locations with the full IceCube sample, further developing and testing the GRB emission models and testing the new models against IceCube high energy neutrino data.
