Project Details
Chromosome and protein dynamics during the insertion of membrane proteins into the cell membrane (P14)
Subject Area
Cell Biology
Term
from 2017 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 269423233
We will make use of single-molecule tracking to further describe the dynamics of mRNAs, ribo-somes, signal recognition particle (SRP) and of SRP receptor FtsY in Shewanella putrefaciens as Gram-negative model organism, and in Bacillus subtilis as Gram-positive organism. We will extend our studies to YidC and YlxM proteins, who function during membrane insertion, and to cold shock proteins, playing a role in mRNA localization. Changes in chromosome dynamics will be studied using superresolution fluorescence microscopy, employing computer modelling.
