This theoretical project aims to develop a conceptual and quantitative understanding of the spatio-temporal organization of proteins in bacterial cells. The overarching goal is to unravel the principles underlying the formation of protein patterns, and the assembly and dynamics of protein complexes and biomolecular condensates. In particular, we are interested in the role of cell geometry, non-equilibrium and nonlinear reaction kinetics, and mechanical interactions.
