Experiments and numerical simulations on combustor-plenum-interactions for pressure gain combustion (C01)

Subject Area Fluid Mechanics
Term from 2016 to 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 200291049

Project Description

The aim of this subproject is to reduce the unavoidable residual pulsations to a level that is tolerable for the compressor and turbine by using plena between the combustion tubes and the turbo components. This project investigates the feedback between the plenums and the adjacent turbo components. In addition, new concepts for cooling and shock reduction are developed in the plenum. As in the second funding period, experimental and numerical investigations are closely interlinked. The methods developed will also be applied to design and operate the demonstrator.
