Project Details
Representation of quantum correlations in complex systems (A06)
Subject Area
Optics, Quantum Optics and Physics of Atoms, Molecules and Plasmas
Term
from 2016 to 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 274200144
A06 will explore new theoretical methods to construct highly-entangled states of complex quantum systems such as atomic gases and trapped ions, to design robust metrological protocols approaching the Heisenberg limit, and finally to identify protected collective coherent degrees of freedom in ultracold gases. To achieve this goal, we will develop a diverse portfolio of new tools, from tensor networks for many particle systems with dissipation, quantum machine learning, to descriptions of physical subspaces of Hilbert space. The theoretical expertise of A06 is critical for DQ-mat’s targeted design of quantum states to explore and master the properties of correlated many-body systems and to exploit these states for enhanced metrology.
