Generation of spherical microscopic samples with single droplet solidification (U01)

Subject Area Mechanical Process Engineering
Term from 2016 to 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 276397488

Project Description

Single droplet processes with metallic melts offer the possibility to generate spherical micro samples for high throughput. The solidification takes place conventionally during free fall in a stagnant gas atmosphere. Within this project, new cooling conditions will be developed using a concurrent flow with variable gas atmospheres and conductive heat transfer after droplet impact. drop oscillations after droplet formation will be evaluated to determine the surface tension in-situ.
